7th House on the Left

Here we are with another edition of Etsy Thursday! This week, we are sharing some of our favorite jewelry finds…

etsy1 ETSY THURSDAY: JEWELRY EDITION

I love pretty much everything at Dreamy Vintage’s Etsy shop! So it was hard to pick just one favorite. After a bunch of clicking back and forth, I decided to feature this Vintage Sparrow Nest Glass bracelet. This nature inspired bracelet is totally classy with a touch of whimsy. The caramel colored vintage glass pieces are set in antiqued brass chain and finished with a green suede ribbon. I love how it’s really dainty yet chunky enough to make a statement.

Not only is this vintage inspired golden locket from Tyra Handmade Jewelry charming but it’s completely customizable. Choose your favorite combination of locket, birthstone and initial to create a meaningful piece of jewelry. This would make for a perfect unique baby gift!

Now something for the guys! If you search for “cufflinks” on Etsy, you’ll find them made from circuit boards, Legos, watch gears, baseballs, bottle caps, vintage typewriter keys and more. You name it; you can probably find a cufflink made from it on Etsy! While browsing through the unique creations, these sterling silver Six Pence Cufflinks from MFJ Designs caught my eye (and Greg’s eye, too). These are cast from British Six Pence. Six Pence are supposed to be lucky on your wedding day, so these would make for great groomsman gifts!

5 BANANA BANANA BREAD

Last week, as I was clicking through my usual morning blog roll routine, I came across a recipe for banana bread over at Little Brown Pen. I am a fan of banana bread any time of year, but during the fall, it’s extra-special to sit down and have a nice warm piece of fresh banana bread with a hot cup of coffee. I recently ordered a few mini loaf pans from Garnish, so I was compelled by my seasonal banana bread obsession to give this recipe a try.

5bananabread 5 BANANA BANANA BREAD
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/3 cups mashed overripe bananas (5 bananas)
1 cup Walnut pieces (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar. Stir in eggs and mashed bananas until well blended. Slowly stir banana mixture into flour mixture; stir just to moisten. Pour batter into prepared loaf pans (I actually forgot to prepare the pans! The bread was still delicious–just kind of messy. Make sure you spray yours with a non-stick cooking spray.) Bake for 60 to 65 minutes, until your loaves can pass the toothpick test. Let the bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack. *This recipe fills four mini loaf pans like this.

This is, hands down, the best banana bread recipe I have ever tried. It’s super-moist, unlike a lot of other banana bread recipes I’ve tried. And as Nichole said, it actually tastes like bananas!

Do you have a favorite bread recipe? With the holidays coming up, we’d love to try it out! Let us know via email or in the comments!

Soon, our light maple colored hardwood floors will be nice, rich dark walnut. And once the polyurethane smell has hit the road, then it’s time to start moving in our furniture that’s been in our climate controlled storage unit since April 1st. We miss it.

Check out our flooring process here, here and here.
