Sure, we get a lot of emails about paint colors, hardware finishes and even questions about Disney World here and there. But we also get a decent number of questions about is the fonts we use here on the blog. Being a graphic designer by trade, I am a total font addict! With hundreds of fonts on my computer, there are a handful of them that I constantly find myself going back to. The best part? They’re FREE! Who doesn’t love free?! So, without further ado, here’s a collection of 20 of my favorite fonts:

1. St Marie 2. Champagne & Limousines 3. Lavanderia 4. Museo Slab 500
5. Mailart Rubberstamp 6. Code Light 7. Marcelle 8. Simply Glamorous
9. Scribblebox 10. Peach Sundress 11. Blanch 12. Villa Didot 13. American Typewriter
14. Bready 15. Walkway Semibold 16. Airplane 17. Print Clearly 18. Sail
19. Matilde 20. Petie Boy
So, how about you? What’s your go-to font? If you have a favorite, share the link in the comments section! I’m always looking for more to add to the collection. : )
** Some of the fonts listed ask for a donation of $5 or more. However, if you type in “0″, then click “download”, you can still download the font for FREE for personal use. If you plan on using them on your monetized blog or something like an Etsy store, make sure you read all of the guidelines before doing so.
**Installing Fonts: If you need help installing fonts, here’s a great (and easy!) tutorial on how to install fonts on a Mac: here. Just in case anyone needs a PC version, check out this tutorial: here. There’s a bunch of different ways to install fonts on a Mac, but here’s how I do it: Download the fonts to your desktop, open Font Book, click File, Add Fonts, then select the files you just downloaded to your desktop, and click Open. Then, your fonts should be downloaded! If they aren’t showing up in Word or other programs, try restarting the program(s).
That was fun! Thank you so much for the heads up!
I ♥ fonts!
I love Beautiful Every Time, it’s free for personal use & requires a donation for commercial use.
I use Walkway Bold, but I will try semibold too. I love your choices!
I just pinned that picture so I could remember to come back to this post over and over again! Thanks for sharing.
Love your choices! My favorite font is Gotham (the font used in Obama’s campaign) but unfortunately, it’s not free
Thank you for sharing. I absolutely agree. Who doesn’t LOVE free fonts?!
Ooh, those are awesome! Haven’t seen Peach Sundress before — that’s pretty adorable! I love Matilde — have it in my blog header.
I’m also a fan of Quicksand and League Script, both via Font Squirrel (and free, of course).
Those are lovely! And a lot of them are new to me. I especially like Sail.
I’ve been digging Bebas Neue and Halo Handletter lately.

Thanks for sharing!
museo slab is & never has been free
thanks for the list tho!
Thanks! The link for Museo in the post directs you to a free version (in 2 styles) on Font Squirrel. But yeah, if you want all 12 style/weights, you’ll have to buy it on MyFonts.com for $99.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!! I found your website thru Pinterest and I think you might be my new favorite person ever! I got Simply Gorgeous & Lavanderia for a project in my daughters’ room (printing their names off in this pretty writing and then transfering to contact paper), Peach Sundress (for labeling my strawberry jam) and Print Clearly. Did you know Print Clearly comes in a “dashed” version too?! Perfect for my little ones who are just learning to write so they can trace the letters. THANKS AGAIN!!!! I love my new free fonts.
Awesome! Sounds like you’ve got some great projects you’re working on : )
I love these, but can’t figure out how to use them! Help!
Thanks for the recommendations. I love finding new fonts to use.
So I’m so excited, just downloaded a few fonts (i think) but am a new mac user and now don’t know where to find or how to use….any tips? Thanks!
Here’s a great (and easy!) tutorial on how to install fonts on a Mac: here.
Just in case anyone needs a PC version, check out this tutorial: here.
Hope that helps!! : )
Just a head’s up that Lavanderia is $60something (I think $69?) for a commercial use license. I thought all the fonts on Lost Type were for commercial use with donation, but in the read me file, it says that you may not use Lavanderia for commercial purposes without contacting the designer first. It is a stunning font. I’m saving up my pennies.
Yeah, that’s odd because I always thought Lost Type fonts were commercial with a donation as well. I guess it’s per-font basis now…? Thanks for the heads up! Still a fab font for personal use!
I love number 2,6 and 7. It’s amazing how much is free these days, we’re all so spoiled!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This list with the sources is so helpful!
Also, I noticed some of your posts don’t have the pretty banner titles when they’re viewed from the homepage. Maybe it’s my computer? When I clicked to the permanent article, I saw it, just not the homepage.
That’s odd! Thanks for the heads up! : )
Fantastic list! I use a few of these myself. I’ve used Fanwood a lot recently (http://www.theleagueofmoveabletype.com/fanwood) and i haven’t used it yet but I’m dying to give Geotica a go! (http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/geotica-three)
I LOVE Champagne & Limousines. I have been using that font for years {resume, portfolio, even on my wedding invites}. Thanks for list! I love the other fonts you posted.
Love!! Keeping these in mind for sure.
Erin
Hello, I love the free fonts, but how on earth do I install them? I tried to download them but they do not show up in Word. Help please?
Just made a new note in the post for that : )
Thanks for the fonts
These are very cute, but not free (at least when I tried to look) :’(
Some of the fonts listed ask for a donation of $5 or more. However, if you type in “0″, then click “download”, you can still download the font for free for personal use.
I love love love that print clearly has a dashed version, too!!! I have wanted a font like that to use for my daycare kiddos forever…THANKS!!!
thank you for these! one font I like is “jellyka delicous cake”
http://www.dafont.com/jellyka-delicious-cake.font
These fonts are free to download at all—they all ask for a $5 $10 $15 dollar “donation” before you can click the download button—who said these were free?? Very misleading!!!!
Where it asks for a donation, type in 0 and the font is free. Sorry for the confusion! : )
Thanks, Ashley! I wasn’t aware you could do that!
Hi,
(sorry for my english…) I love all this fonts, but I don´t Know how to put them in my PC… any help? When I push in “Download” there is another window with a .zip. How can i do it?
Check out the comment above, I posted links of tutorials on how to install them on your computer. Hope that helps! : )
I really would love these fonts, but I can’t figure out how to get them saved onto my Mac.
I included a link for a tutorial at the end of the post (and above in the comments section). There’s a bunch of different ways to install fonts on a Mac, but here’s the way I do it: Download the fonts to your desktop, open Font Book, click File, Add Fonts, then select the files you just downloaded to your desktop, and click Open. Then, your fonts should be downloaded! If they aren’t showing up in Word or other programs, try restarting the program(s). Hope that helps!
Thanks Ashley! I figured it out. Rather than opening the Font Book, I have to double click the file once it’s downloaded, then click the icon for that font, then install font. When I open Font Book, File is not a choice, so I found this way and it works. Thanks for your help!!
Found this list on Pinterest and love the fonts! Thanks for the tip on how to download onto a Mac. I’m off to brainstorm projects now!
So glad I saw this post on Pinterest. I feel like I’m always endlessly searching on dafont.com for new fonts. These are all fabulous!!
Its lovely to see some new fonts and be able to use them. Great work, look forward to seeing more in the future

Walkway is the font I used for my logo – so glad to see it on your list!!

Lemon Chicken. I don’t remember where I got it.
Thanx so much – luv them!!!
Thank you for this! You’re awesome!
Help please? Thank you for this fonts board, which I Pinned awhile ago. I just got to downloading them and installing them to use in CS2. However for example…Scribblebox types in solid black instead of sketchy. I have other fonts that do the same, like Bluemoon which is supposed to be a crosshatch pattern. Do you have any idea why this is happening? Can you help me at all? I have already tried Googling, but cannot find an answer.
Hmmm… I’m not sure why this would be happening. Maybe it’s because you’re using an old version of CS…? You can also try deleting and reinstalling the trouble fonts. Maybe a version just got lost in translation. Wish I could help more!
Hi Ashley! My blog I Heart Free Fonts is hosting a link-up of favorite fonts starting this Friday and I thought maybe you’d like to link up! Love your collection! http://iheartfreefonts.com/2013/05/06/free-fonts-linkup/
Thanks, Liz! : )
