His + Her Favorite Things

The leaves haven’t fallen, the temperatures are in the 80’s (that’s hot for fall in Virginia!), I’ve got a Christmas-themed item on my list and Ash has a bulldog on hers. We’re all over the place this month, people. So, let’s jump right into a topsy-turvy edition of His + Her Favorite Things…

His Favorite Things // 7thhouseontheleft.com

ONE // Ever since Ash got me that record player last month (that was featured in last month’s Favorites), I’ve been scrounging second hand stores and antique shops for great records. One such find was a copy of Frank Sinatra’s Strangers in the Night. You can expect this record to be playing in our house around dinner time most nights. A perk of the record: we’ve recently realized that Bentley totally chills out when it’s on. It’s awesome. TWO // I’ll admit, I’m kind of a mess. Ashley has to really be on her game to help keep me organized, and she does a great job of it. At the same time, I’m a huge fan of modern minimalism (what a contradiction, right?). This inbox and pen holder (the actual, physical kind–not the kind email goes in) would be great for storing the multitude of papers I have on my desk at any given time in a stylish way and is on our “buy-soon-before-papers-overtake-Greg’s-office list” THREE // I know, Fall just got here, and we’re still waiting for the weather to be more Fall-like (it’s going to be in the 80s here until Monday!), but I’m totally ready for the Christmas season. Nothing says, “Wake up! It’s Christmas time!” like a peppermint latte in THE red cup. FOUR // I’m not usually one for sharing funny video clips with everyone I know, but this clip from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon had me (and especially Ash) in stitches.

Her Favorite Things // 7thhouseontheleft.com

ONE // I’ve always been a fan of the talented Anna Bond, but the new 2014 calendar is out of this world kinds of amazing. I especially love the artwork for July, Nantucket. She has more talent in her pinky than I have in my entire body, haha. TWO // Some people collect ceramic cats, I collect Pinguin Clothbound Classics. Well, at least I do now. A few weeks ago, I bought my first one on Amazon (The Woman in White). While I’m loving the book, I’m loving the design of the cover just as much. My plan is to collect (and read) a dozen or so to display in my office. I’ve heard HomeGoods has them once in a while, but I haven’t had such luck yet. THREE // About five months ago, I was shopping for new office supplies when I came across this beauty. It’s the prettiest stapler I ever did see. I had it in my shopping cart and at the last minute decided to buy it later rather than then. Worst. Mistake. Ever. It’s now “not available” or “on backorder” everywhere I’ve looked and I couldn’t be more bummed about a stapler if I tried. FOUR // Since I bought Greg his record player while I was in LA, we’ve been playing it pretty much nonstop. Which is why I now “need” one for my office. I love the floral design on this one. It’s fun, vintage and colorful and on my short list. FIVE // We one day hope of having a new sofa for the living room. Even though I still can’t decide on a style/shape, I do know that I want to fill it with lots of eclectic and colorful pillows. Wouldn’t this guy be a cute addition?

So, spill the beans! What’s on your Favorites list this month?

It was actually Jimmy Fallon (not Kimmel, but totally easy mistake to make). Here’s a link for those of us who don’t have Hulu Plus.

I found this skit with Jimmy and Justin Timberlake to be even more funny! (Look up “hashtag”)

Hi there! I’ve been following your blog for awhile and wanted to say hello! I love the Bulldog pillow — we have a Frenchie and are drawn to anything Bully related 😉

I also love the Penguin cloth cover books! Because I DO judge a book by it’s cover, lol! I’ve seen them at Anthropologie and have bought a few from Barnes & Noble if you’re looking for stores that carry them. 🙂

I absolutely LOVE the penguin cloth books by Coralee Bickford-Smith! I almost have them all. Are there more beautiful Penguin classics?

I am obsessed with the Travel America calendar! I used it as décor for our new nursery!
