HIS + HER FAVORITE THINGS: STOCKING STUFFERS EDITION

For this month’s edition of His + Her Favorite Things – since Christmas is just around the corner – we thought it would be fun to round up some of our favorite stocking stuffer ideas. I’m up first, let’s get started…

Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Him // 7thhouseontheleft.com

ONE // After playing bass for the last 9 months, I’ve come to a conclusion: guitarists have it good in the instrument weight department. My bass weighs a ton more than any of my guitars, and a nice, wide leather strap is on the Christmas list this year. TWO // Ash got me one of these last year, and I thought it was a pretty cool idea. I can’t confess to having used it much, but it’s definitely nice to know it’s there, taking up no space, waiting for me to use it at a moment’s notice. THREE // I’m not a huge fan of phone cases (they always seem to defeat the purpose of having beautifully-designed phone), but I might be able to live with this one for a while. Something about traditional wood finishes mixed with modern technology makes me happy. FOUR // I currently have an obsession with colorful, cloth-wrapped USB cables. This would be an excellent gift for anyone using a newer iPhone who wants something a little better than the tangly, rubberized cable that comes with the phone. FIVE // I’ve always wanted a French press, and making a whole pot of coffee always seems like a waste if Ash isn’t going to have any. While it isn’t a French press, this single-serving mocka pot might do the trick. It brews espresso on the stovetop, using steam pressure to extract all the flavor – all while small enough to fit in a stocking.  SIX // I love to read, so it’s no wonder that books would wind up on my Christmas list. This series of classic hardback books from Barnes & Noble are a bit more timeless and display-worthy than your typical paperback. The cover on this edition of The Illiad and The Odyssey is particularly awesome.

ONE // This is my new favorite addition to my jewelry collection. The photo doesn’t do it justice, and it definitely doesn’t look like a bracelet that only costs $19.99. I was out with some friends last week and they asked where I got it. When I said, “Target”, they were totally shocked – it’s that kinds of awesome. TWO // This scent never gets old. It’s clean, fresh and feminine; perfect for those who don’t want something that smells too “perfumy”. This whipped body crème is definitely on my Christmas list. It’s one of those things you hope you get multiples of!  THREE // I totally thought they were “so five years ago”, but I’ve found myself needing a USB drive more and more over the last few months. Now that Kate Spade has one, I “need” it, right? Right. FOUR // I bought a few of these for one of my good friends (who’s obsessed with macarons) and I loved them so much. They’re perfect for keeping little pieces of jewelry (like earrings), safety pins or even vitamins. FIVE // Four of my favorite things: candle, white, gold and polka dots. I’m so there. Not only it is adorable, but word on the street is that it smells really good too. Hint, hint Santa Greg. SIX // Who knew matches could be so cute?! I think these would make a perfect hostess gift. They’re in and out of stock all the time, so get them while you can.

So what are your favorite stocking stuffer finds? Have any items that must be in your stocking this Christmas?

Uh-oh! The item in “his” favorite things is a mokapot, not a french press. Single serve, yes, but the coffee it will produce is much closer to espresso than french press coffee. There are some cute tiny french presses out there though, search for a bodum chambord 12oz french press 🙂

Yeah, we actually had a French Press on the list at first and realized it was way too big to fit in a stocking, so we changed the graphic to this one and forgot to update Greg’s text – oops! Off to fix it now!

Forgive the coffee snobbery, but that’s not a french press, it’s a moka pot! It makes a stronger espresso (which you can dilute with water to make it more coffee-like), and I actually prefer the flavor to a french press! (and the way the water boils and shoots through to the top makes me feel like a magician/scientist)

I love the Kate Spade USB so much but it’s not very big; it’s only 4GB. I definitely need something bigger but I can not find any thing else that pretty in keychain form ((sigh)).
