THE KITCHEN JUNK DRAWER MAKEOVER

7 Things to Do to Make You Feel More Organized TODAY // 7thhouseontheleft.com

Happy snow day, everyone! Well, almost everyone on the East Coast, anyway. As you guys may remember from this post, I’m kind of obsessed with snow days. Though, this snow day has been a little different than my picturesque version because I’ve been working on finishing up a lot of projects for my “regular job” and tying up loose ends on blog-related things that we’ll hopefully be able to share with you soon. I’m hoping to wrap things up at a decent time tonight in order to enjoy a movie with Greg, Bentley and some hot chocolate. Fingers crossed!

Anyway, I wanted to pop in really quick and point you guys over to my latest contributor post at iHeart Organizing (check out the post here). I covered the recent transformation of the “junk drawer” in the kitchen. It feels so good to have that under my belt. Even though it was a small project, it makes a big difference for the everyday things like grabbing a Post-It to jot down a note. Some of the comments over there mentioned that the before photo wasn’t bad enough, haha. Rest assured, I have an even worse junk drawer in my bedroom (my “makeup drawer”) and also one in the dresser in the laundry room (the “everything drawer”). I’ll definitely be sure to share those secrets when the time comes.

PS All of you Lee students out there, enjoy this snow day!Β You won’t have another for the remainderΒ of your college career. I, along with every other Lee alumni out there, can pretty much guarantee that! haha

Ashley, I love EVERY organizing post you do (well, I like the other kinds of posts too) so feel free to share even the smallest organized space in your home! I had not thought of using the Command strips like this – brilliant.

Loved your drawer organizers. I know that you already had them on hand but I was wondering where you got them, if you remember? I need to organize my bathroom drawers and I am looking for ideas. Thanks!

Thanks! I believe the metal one is from Bed Bath & Beyond and the clear one is from Target.

Hey! Love the junk drawer. I try to keep a tidy one by the sink but adding the little organizers is a nice touch.

Hello! I love reading your blog and the great tips here on organizing your junk drawer (which it’s way too pretty to be called that now!). But i have a totally random question – i see you have Kraftmaid cabinets. We’re redoing our bathroom and are looking at a Kraftmaid vanity but weren’t sure about it’s quality. Do you like yours? Thanks and stay warm!

Thanks, Susan! We’ve had our cabinets for about two years now and still love them just as much as the day they were installed – which is a lot, haha. For us, the quality and durability have been wonderful.

Where oh where did you get all those lovely washi tapes? Please tell! I need some in my life and I can’t find any in my Targets, Staples, etc. (Canada)

The green chevron is from Michaels, the pink stripe is from Target (in the office supply section), the polka dot is from Target (here, in the scrapbook section), the gray stripe is from Etsy, the red dot is from Target (also in the office supply section) and the yellow stripe is also from Etsy. I hope you find some!

This is great! I hate messy junk drawers, you can’t find anything when you need it. This is a small project that is much needed!
