Where can I find a list of your paint colors?
Click here for a list of all the paint colors (and finishes) we’ve used in the house so far. Also, in recent posts (June 2016 and on), the paint colors seen in the photos will be listed at the end of the post.
What kind of countertops are in your kitchen? Do you like them?
We have Cambria Quartz (in Torquay) countertops in the kitchen and half bath and we love them. You can find an entire post dedicated to them here. Be sure to check the comments for answers to commonly asked questions.
What color floor stain did you use throughout the house?
We used Dark Walnut by Minwax and asked our floor guy to water pop it to make the grain stand out more. Read more about our decision process in this post.
How many square feet does your house have?
About 2,200-ish square feet.
Where can I see the floor plan?
Right here, on the house tour page.
Where can I find the resources for your kitchen appliances and cabinets?
All of that information, and a whole lot more, can be found in this post.
Where did you get the “Rare Prints” wall art in your living room?
We bought it from Pottery Barn almost seven years ago. Unfortunately, they don’t carry it anymore. It’s such a shame because we get this question all the time and we hate telling people that.
What about the price of this or the paint finish on that?
Be sure to the check the comments of that particular post for questions from other readers. You might just find your answer there. If not, feel free to contact us.
How do I submit a guest post?
Sorry, but we do not accept guest posts, as we like to keep things personal and write our own content.
When do you publish new posts?
We both have rather busy work schedules and don’t blog full-time. That being said, our post “schedule” is really organic and new posts pop up as things happen around here. When a new post is up, we’ll be sure to let you guys know via our Facebook page or Instagram.
How did you design your blog?
We took an existing WordPress template and beefed it up with some custom code (Greg’s geeky handiwork) to make it our own and more suitable for our blog needs.
Do you design blogs / branding for other people?
Short answer, yes! Ashley offers brand + website design services over at Ashley Brown Creative. For custom WordPress coding (or general freelance web development), shoot Greg an email at email@example.com.
How do you design your His + Her Favorite Things boards?
We use a mixture of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. If the product photos need to be edited (the background taken out or cropped), that’s done in Photoshop. When it comes to laying it all out, Illustrator is used to put all of the pieces together (you could also easily do the layout in Photoshop though!). As for Greg, he normally just gives me (Ashley) his list of favorites and I put his board together for him. Of course, I always make sure to show him his board and get his “seal of approval” before it’s posted.
What’s the deal with “sponsored posts”?
Running a blog that gets a fair amount of traffic gets expensive. To help cover the costs, we take on very few sponsorship opportunities each year. 99.9% of the time we say “no thank you” to sponsorship opportunities because the last thing we want to do is bombard our readers with paid content. We only choose to partner with brands we truly love and products we already use. If we choose to partner with a company for any reason, we’ll let you know on that specific post.
What breed of dog is Bentley?
Even though he sometime me may resemble a squirrel, fox or a tiny kangaroo, he is in fact a Pomeranian. Ashley rescued him from a puppy mill when he was eight weeks old during her junior year in college. Now, he’s a part of the family… and we’ve become those crazy dog people.
Where did you two meet and how long have you been married?
We originally met at church where we were both involved in the youth music team. We really didn’t like each other at all but later became friends and eventually started dating when we were 18/19 years old. We broke up, got back together, broke up again and got back together again — it’s a long story. But a good one. Greg popped the question during the Fall of our senior year. After graduating college one year later, we moved back to our homes here in Richmond and in December of 2007 became Mr. & Mrs.
When did you buy your house?
After cozy apartment living for a little over two years, we decided we were ready to take the next big step: home ownership. We house-hunted in a few areas of Richmond off and on for about 6 months until a house Ashley had been eyeing for years suddenly came on the market. After a whirlwind of paper signing and negations the day after Chrsitmas 2009, we closed on the house in the Spring of 2010.
